No Stupid Questions: Conversations about Race

"What's wrong with being color blind?"
"Why can't I say 'All Lives Matter'?"
"Where are you really from?"

Do you have a burning question you have always wanted to ask about race or ethnicity but were unsure if it was the "right" thing to say? Did you fear losing face, making a mistake, or not being able to manage impressions people have of you if you asked that question?

On Tuesday 8/3 at 8pm EST, the Women's Classical Caucus (WCC) has invited intercultural educator & consultant Erika G. Bertling to host an interactive workshop titled "No Stupid Questions: Conversations About Race." If you have questions you would like addressed in the session, please fill out this form by Tuesday 8/3 at 3pm EST.

In this workshop, Erika will first provide tools and exercises on how to keep challenging conversations open so that people don't shut down. Then Erika will answer and participants will discuss questions submitted ahead of time through the form, as well as live. Attendees and registrants will also receive a handout with curated "silence-breaker" conversation starters. This will be an open discussion in a safe, facilitated space.

This workshop is part of WCC's ongoing Social Justice Series "WCC Race-Conscious Communication & Parenting," which has been running throughout the summer. It is a stand-alone event open to all members, however, so it is okay if you have not attended the other sessions.
